On June 30/July 1, 2012 Canada’s 145th birthday was celebrated at Sidney Days with activities and entertainment for the whole family. Over 620 people joined us on Saturday afternoon for burgers at the beach! Cake and fireworks were enjoyed later in the evening. TIDES coordinated the BBQ.
The Thrifty’s Community BBQ was June 30th from 4:30-6:30p.m. in Beacon Park (in front of the Pier Hotel). Through the kind support of Thrifty’s and Sleggs Lumber, families enjoyed a delightful feast as a lead up to the evening’s events.
The delicious BBQ meal of beef and salmon burgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks was provided by our friends at Thrifty’s and cooked up by master chefs from all three levels of government.
All the proceeds, over $3500, were donated in support of the Sidney Lions Food Bank.
Events over Sidney Days included the official opening of Iroquois Park, Canada Day ceremonies, entertainment, and parade, the Slegg Build-A-Boat contest, Fun Run, Pancake Breakfast and more. Come join Sidney next year in the celebration of Canada Day 146th! All events are open to the public.
